About this exhibition:

This exposition is an initiative from the school for art and music, Mezzos vzw in a joint effort with KEG (Kunst Experimenten Gent) and is already 10 years old under the umbrella: “KEG POPUP ART FESTIVAL”.

The goal is to expose submerging talent to the public. Mezzos creates a step up for emerging talent, talent that is present but not visible to a broader public.

Mezzos is empowering emerging artists through the KEG POPUP Art Festival by giving them a unique underground stage to shine. By curating dynamic exhibitions and live performances, Mezzos helps artists connect directly with new audiences. The POPUP KEG festival creates space for experimentation, collaboration, and real-time creation. Through this initiative, Mezzos is actively submerging fresh talent into Ghent’s vibrant cultural scene.

BIO

Freddy Jacobs aka  “Jaco”  studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Bruges, Belgium, when he was young. He became a civil engineer and started to paint in 2009 when he was 50 years old. Jaco uses different materials in his paintings. His passion is creating unusual and unique art using texture as a base for his works. He paints with feeling, using color and forms to express himself.  The variety of mixed materials brings structure and effects to his paintings. He uses bright colors in a way that the paintings start to interact with the viewer, creating emotions and strong feelings. Jaco’s work is a bold mix of styles, ranging from sleek and contemporary to weathered and organic. He brings a subtle and sophisticated feel to his paintings through a unique balance of color, composition, and texture.  The colored mixed media are having a dialogue with the audience. He brings a variety of themes. As he gets inspired, he experiments to make variations of the initial idea and series. He is constantly evolving and exploring new techniques, allowing him to look at his work in a new light. This creative process gives him energy and satisfaction, feelings that he transmits through his works to his viewers…..
